Last week, I threw a celebration to end the first half of the year. The Garden Party has become a firm fixture in the Biz Girls calendar. In summer there is nothing better than a good alfresco party and this one didn’t disappoint!
There was great company and delicious food by Yve from 6 for Success. The sun shone and the garden was alive with lots of chatter, happy women and definitely lots of networking and connections took place!
Yve from 6 for Success runs a 6-week healthy eating programme. I went on Yve’s programme last year and lost two stone. When Yve approached me to help with the catering at the Garden Party, I jumped at the chance! Yve was so excited and delighted to be given the opportunity to share how healthy, nutritious and tasty food is the way forward for weight loss and long term health. She wanted to dispel the myth that ‘diet’ food is boring! Nobody can live, love and success on lettuce and chicken!
Yve has been supporting people to lose weight for the last 15 years. Her mission is to help people to ditch the diet mindset and embrace healthy eating as a method to lose weight, and most importantly, to keep it off for good. Her USP is the support she provides to her clients- every single day of the 6-week programme. She holds your hand tightly for 42 days providing support, motivation, advice about food, recipe ideas etc. She is your ultimate champion and cheerleader- but also your friendly nag and stalker! Because she’s as invested in your weight loss as you are, she’s uncompromising when it comes to ‘treats’ and ‘cheats’!
She served up a delicious and mouth-watering menu which was a real testament to how we can eat well and not feel deprived.
There were light and fluffy lemon cakes to accompany tea and coffee.
Sticky chicken sausages.
A big bowl of fat-free coronation chicken (who knew this could taste so delicious?!).
Smoked salmon and quark cheese blinis – nobody knew that it wasn’t the usual high-calorie content cheese!
Smoked mackerel pate.
Marinated prawn and cherry tomato mini skewers.
Fresh raita dip with fat-free yoghurt, spring onion and lots of fresh mint.
Mini egg muffins which were spicy little delights made with minced Quorn sausages and fresh herbs.
Crunchy salads and lots of other variations of healthy food.
I added in some home-made meatballs and naughty (but nice!) mini Eton mess for dessert!
We prepared everything the day before the event. My house was turned into a professional kitchen. We couldn’t have got everything done without the help and support of Caroline from Maidenhead Podiatry who is one of Yve’s most successful clients an inspiring and inventive chef. Caroline is a previous Biz Girl of the Year AND Service of the Year Award winner and was very creative in the presentation of all the amazing food! There was lots of chopping, cooking, singing and dancing (yes really!). Talking of chopping, both Caroline and Yve were presented with gorgeous personalised chopping boards by Rebecca from Hugo’s Workshop.
I’ve seen Yve grow from strength to strength since she joined the network as a member. From the best-kept secret, she’s now out there, loud and proud! I know she’s made amazing connections with fellow Business Girls who have supported her as coaches, advisors and friends. This is what our community is all about. Helping, supporting and collaborating. Prep day was a wonderful example of the ethos of the community and women coming together to make something happen. I can’t thank Yve and Caroline enough for all of their hard work. Thank-you!
There were many sighs of contentment as everybody tucked into the food. The food was light, fresh, delicious – and very very healthy! Yve knows her stuff. If you are looking to lose some weight and are sick of being on a diet and not getting anywhere, get in touch with her. I have personal experience of being on the 6-week programme and would absolutely definitely highly recommend. In fact, I intend to have a ‘6 for Success’ few weeks in the run-up to my holiday to lose a few extra pounds!
Yve was so delighted and honoured to win the Most Inspiring and Active Business Girl award this year at the Inspire Conference, and also to be nominated for Progress in Business award. She’s relatively new to networking and describes joining The Business Girls Network Membership Club in February 2018 ‘the best business decision I’ve ever made’.
Huge thanks to Hannah from Maylings Photography who took the shots on the day. You know you’ve got a champion photographer at your event when you the spirit of the event is captured so perfectly.
The garden party was an unforgettable experience –we shared some great laughs, ate scrumptious food and the atmosphere was magical. There were even some trampoline shenanigans! Oh, and the dogs and cat got involved too! This is how we do networking.
We have a break from networking events in August so we all get some much-needed R & R. We will be back in September with Caroline from Maidenhead Podiatry who will be sharing with us all she knows about Customer Service. It’s one not to be missed! You can book it here.
