Fashion Show – ‘Courage on the Catwalk’

Fashion Show Sponsored by OFF the RACK London

Every year at the conference there is something different. This year, there will be an exciting Fashion Show and brave women who have survived domestic abuse will take to the catwalk to model at the fashion show, helping to empower victims of domestic abuse.

The network is supporting The DASH Charity and raising funds to provide capsule style wardrobe clothing to women who have escaped domestic violence and abuse, many of whom never had any control over their finances or their choice of clothing. The network will be providing them with quality clothing to help build their self- esteem and rebuild their lives.

Jayne Donnelly, Chief Executive of local Domestic Abuse specialist charity, Dash, said “Many of our women arrive with just the clothes they stand up in “The generous donations from the Business Girls Network enables them to look forward and towards building a positive future for themselves with their children”

When a woman flees domestic violence, they are often left with nothing and flee their home with no possessions. Having suitable and new clothing and being able to dress with dignity is vital to somebody in this situation. Having a capsule wardrobe gives domestic abuse survivors the confidence and help they need to boost their self-esteem and feeling of dignity.  Each capsule wardrobe will be made up of carefully chosen items by Anna from OFF the RACK London who will be showcasing their clothing range at the fashion show and conference.  There will be raffle tickets available to purchase at the conference and people will be asked to purchase an item of clothing or sponsor an entire capsule wardrobe. Anybody would like sponsor a capsule wardrobe, please email info@thebusinessgirlsnetwork.com.

Anna said “’DASH’ charity does some incredible work. I feel inspired by the bravery of these women which is why it is a cause close to my heart. I am supporting it by putting together a fashion show which my business ‘OFF the RACK London’ allows me to do. So please come and support this wonderful event.”

There will be 10 models gracing the catwalk including 5 domestic abuse survivors and 5 members of the Business Girls community.

The theme of the conference is always about ‘inspiring women’.  We hope the brave women taking part in the fashion show will inspire others to find the strength to move forward just like they did.  There will also be a DASH domestic abuse survivor talking at the conference.

Amanda Ayres said “We’re delighted to be able to help this great local cause, women helping women is a core value of our network.  We know how important it is to have a sense of self esteem and we want to help these women retain their dignity and build their confidence”
